Having issues after moving to new server
 

Hi all,

I moved my site to a new server within the last 8 hours from the time of this post.. well let me clarify, the support guys of the new hosting service, backed up and moved my site for me. Now while everything initially appears to function at first glance, some things are not appearing on menus, or the interface and the site is telling us that we do not have permissions to access certain features. A couple other symptoms I'm seeing is that "Who's Online" doesn't show up in the QuickLinks... The User Group permissions fields were reordered. My ads don't show up.. Avatars are not showing up in postbit(_legacy)...
I will add more things as I find them.

Any ideas where I can being trying to fix this?

Check permissions.

Been there - Done that.. I'm also experience things like where the vbAdvanced Online Users mod will say there are 1 member and 4 guests online.. but when I click the title of the mod to go to "Who's Online" it will only show 1 member online. It's got to be more than just "Check Permissions". If it was that easy, I would have fixed it by now. Sorry if I'm sounding a little snarky... I've just been trying to fix this for the last 8 hours or so, and it's getting a tad bit old and frustrating.

I think he intended to say: check the file system / folder permissions ;)

If the errors persist, the restore didn't work.

Very difficult to troubleshoot this based on the information provided. If you can not figure it out, you might want to open a support ticket.

Ok. Thanks for the info. I'm not sure what more information I can provide, but it's like various functionality in either VB or vb related addons don't work or only halfway work.

I'll take a look at the filesystem permissions. Do you think maybe it would help to uninstall some addons? Otherwise, maybe I'll redo the restore. If those don't work, I'll put in a support ticket.

To troubleshoot this, please remove any hacks and disable your plugins, then see if you still have this problem.
Note: To temporarily disable the plugin system, edit config.php and add this line right under <?php

define('DISABLE_HOOKS', true);

If so, reupload all the original vB non-image files (except install.php). Make sure you upload these in ASCII format and overwrite the ones on the server.

If your problem still exists, please create a new Style with no Parent set. Now browse the forum using this new style, do you still have the same problems? If you are troubleshooting login or guest issues, you will need to set this style as board default in the vBulletin Options.

If this doesn't help, open a support ticket.
