Need to change site of field that RSS feeds get entered into.

I posted this on vB.com and suggested I ask here:

When:
RSS Feeds>RSS Feed Manager>Add New RSS Feed>URL of Feed <-- only allows a url of a certain length (sorry I did not count characters).

I want to use a URL that is much longer than what is allowed (to include affiliate ID's in the URL).

I tried the tinyURL site, but that did not work.

Is there anyway to change so a longer URL can be used?

The idea I had was to take a RSS feed from eBay of a keyword search related to the topic of the forum and it has my ebay affiliate link in the RSS feed url as well as the search parameters (hence the long url for the feed). The feed would go into its own sub-forum and as the content of the feed is relevant to the topic of the forum, I may have been able to earn a few $ ...
Can anyone help?

Not tested but increasing the column in the database should allow for longer URL's.

Thanks. BUT, I have no clue where to start even looking how to do this.

What is your vB version?

3.6.10 (too many mods to move to 3.7 at this stage)

Try running the following query (always backup your datebase before running manual queries!):

[sql]ALTER TABLE rssfeed CHANGE COLUMN url url TEXT;[/sql]

Thanks Marco. Its way beyond me technically, so the great folk at URLJet did it for me and it works wonderfully.

Hopefully taking this keyword relevant RSS feed from eBay with my affiliate link in it will make a few more $ for me.

The next step is to post the mod to post the rss feed as rposts and not a new thread for each item, then get one of the moderators to take responsibility for deleting old auctions.
