allow users edit their own post/threads

just wondering folks, do you allow your users edit their own threads/posts? perhaps this is an older question... someone prefers limit this feature, someone prefers allow without any restriction, someone prefers totally deny ...

so pls tell me what are your setting about thread and post (you know that these are 2 different features right? :p)

right now i've these settings:
post edit: 30 mins.
thread edit: 15 mins.

also i completely disable the possibility to delete their post/threads.

No limit for me. Although I'm looking into coding something that will allow me to apply the global time limit to new members only...then established members can have longer. Should help for spam! I don't get that much SPAM anyway, had a few sign up, but they give up, without me or my mods doing anything, because it's just sooo hard to SPAM the forums LOL.

there is such a hack for 3.0 i'm sure, as i coded one and someone here copied it... but i do not remember who, and i don't know if it was updated for 3.5...

oh, i give limited edition to users.. they can edit their post, but not the threads.. that is given to moderators... and now that we have Post History, why not let them edit their posts... hey!

oh, thanks Jase2... and i can remember what is the real content of my first reply to that thread... "someone" deleted the second part of my sentence.. lol

my version was adding a override time period for usergroups, so you could apply a different time period for each... or 0 for unlimited...

Members can edit their post whenever they want, so unlimited :P.
They can only edit the thread within 5 minutes though. (And the amount of time they've got to add a poll is unlimited as well)

but this allow the editing by usergroup, not by specific user ...

I do not let them delete threads, but I let them edit posts for a couple days.
