Question regarding Addons <=> styles

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm wondering when installing a new style on a site, will all of the template mods from installed addons migrate over to the new style or do I need to uninstall the addon and reinstall it for the style changes to take affect?

Thanks,
Jim

if you install the new style like a 'child style' the only thing that you can do is revert some templates, then they bring the modifications that you did onto the 'master style' ...

but take care, this runs only for the modifications that need 'template edits', while for those that don't require the templates edits you haven't any trouble cause them use the 'hooks' ...

Ok thanks for the reply.

So if I understand what you are saying... if I install a new style as non-child, I would need to manually update that style , otherwise I would need to uninstall the addon and let it auto update any style changes, correct?

yes, if something doesn't run the only thing that you must do will be 'revert some templates' ...

example:
master style: navbar modded with some new links (that you have done with manual changes in your templates)
child style: navbar without any new link (so you need to redo all the changes manually)

in this case simply go in your style manager --> child style ---> navbar template ---> REVERT, now return onto your index and 'magically' the links are showed ... :D
