Does the version of PHP your server has effect the performance of the arcade?

I'm running PHP 4.4.8 and all works well with the exception of game uploads but can bump up to PHP 5 if that will help with performance.

NOTE: I have upgraded to PHP 5.2.6 but "bulk" game uploads have not improved. Still getting these errors.
