Providing Remote Support At MOD Customer's Desk

Have you ever provided help/assistance to a MOD Customer (user) on a blind mode via PMs and spent several hours without moving one inch closer to the solution because you could not see or understand what the customer is talking about? :(

I made a quick search through vB.org to see if there is any recommendation thread for such situations, but saw none. Hence, this post. I use TeamViewer and though some of you guys/gals might find it useful.

Try using TeamViewer (non commercial, in full mode) to provide remote support directly at the MOD user desktop. Of course, trust on both sides (You as server and the MOD user as client requesting your help/assistance) is a MUST.

I think if they raise the Tutorial Standards so much can be saved [time, space, misunderstandings]
I got 1 year here now I understand the instructions wherever they put it on a .txt, .html, .swf or .pdf
Many coders explain things thinking that people see on their minds what they see...

and what about phponline?

p.s. Do you work for Teamviewer?

Nop, I don't work for TeamViewer. Few months ago, I was on travel abroad and needed to access my Home computer remotely. I googled the Internet and found TeamViewer. Since then, I use it whenever I need to provide direct support to someone.

So instead of visiting his server/board, you take over his PC? Not sure if this is something i would want if i where the user.

On occasions, I use www.gotomeeting.com

Yes, and he/she can cancel the connection at any time. For personal use, it's a great program, better than VNC.

I'd rather use tightvnc.com. I'm sure your program has a bit of a more friendly user-interface, but the hardest part of VNC is forwarding a port in the router anyway, and I'm certain your program cannot do that for the user anyway ;)
