Ub2k uses the perl crypt function. From what I know (which isn't much :) ) their is no way to decrypt it. So the only option I see is to go through all the code and crypt (if php has a crypt that will operate in the same way) VB passwords.

If a converter is made the only way to manage the passwords will be to generate a new password for each user during the conversion process.

If the board uses encrypted passwords than what will be done (most likely) is an email will be sent to each user informing them of their new password where the new password will just be their encrypted password from the forum we are upgrading from.
