MySpace Themes

Jeez o' petes. The vast majority of them are complete and utter seizure-inducing trash. How can the people that designed them think they look the least bit appealing? How can the people who use them think the same? Most of them are hopelessly tacky and crammed full of every shiny, glittery graphic that can be found, not to mention all the silly interactive flash apps, slide shows, and music and video clips. Today's MySpace pages make the Tripod and Geocities sites of old with all their animated gifs look like tastefully designed works of art.

I don't want to give the people using them the excuse of knowing nothing about the technical aspects of design; I'm no movie director, but I can pretty well tell when a movie sucks. It makes me wonder how these people have their homes decorated.

If MySpace wasn't such a good promotion tool, I'd avoid it like the plague. Though I must say, it has helped track down and get back in touch with a couple of old high school buddies, so I guess it isn't all bad.

Just felt like ranting a bit. My apologies.

I'm not exactly sure...but might I suggest some good mutual funds?

I think your beef is with the myspace profile layout in general.. as 98% of the "themes" (I quote that, because that is a very strong word for the garbage on myspace) are the default myspace layout with a few color swaps.

But what do you expect? It's ++++ing myspace, dude.

Here's the styles I added to my myspace page:
Code:

* { display: none; }
And I couldn't be more pleased with the result.
