Different Template for different forum
 

I've searched an forgive me if I have missed it, is there a way to have one template for the main forum/homepage and a different template for a specific forum?

It really depends on exactly which template you are talking about. For postbits (as an example), it's real easy to create a plugin to just say use a certain template in certain forum ids. But, it really depends on the template you are talking about and the exact pages you are talking about.
