Can anyone direct me to the mod that will let me add pre-defined avatars to my site?

It's not a modification, just go to Avatars in the Admin CP, then either Add Avatars (if you want to import them from the file system in bulk) or 'Upload avatar' to add one at a time. You can use any image you feel like using...
