Message Posting Interface Problem
I've recently install vBulletin 3.70 on our soon to be new forum.
The problem I'm having is the message posting interface is not working properly. I'm not able to edit the fonts, insert images or smilies. When I go to enter test post, I get the following message: The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 1 characters. The post I am entering reads: This is a test post to see if the system is working. Clearly this is more than 1 character in length. All the other parts of the forum seem to be working fine so far. I can upload avatars, profile pics, enter info in the User CP and so on. But, I cant post a thread, or edit a signature, or anything else that requires the posting interface. I'm sure it's something simple and intuitive that I need to be doing. Thanks for your help in advance. :) |
1. Disable your most recent installed mods that probably caused the problem.
2. Revert all your templates. If that doesn't solve the problem, try creating a child style with no parent and then check !! |
I haven't installed mods. All I've done is downloaded the lastest version from the vBulletin website and uploaded it to my server.
Also, I'm not using any templates other than the Default Style. I'll give the Child Style a try, but in the meantime, why wouldn't the interface work to edit a signature? |
this happened to me once, but it was my skin's issue in 3.6 with Firefox. the editor area of my skin was not accepting any text.
are you using vB 3.7 ?? which browser ?? is JavaScript enabled ?? make sure you uploaded all the vB files !! |
Was this a totally fresh install or an upgrade?
|
I'm using vB 3.7. Firefox 2.0.0.14. ((I also checked in IE, and the problem happens there too)) JavaScript is enabled.
I uploaded everything in the vB upload folder. If there's a particular file that might be missing that could be causing this, let me know which one I should be looking for. --------------- Added [DATE]1211133801[/DATE] at [TIME]1211133801[/TIME] --------------- Quote:

try re-uploading the clientscript folder. |
If this is a totally fresh install, then my guess is some files were not properly uploaded. Go through and reupload your files and pay particular attention to subfolders. I usually like to compare file size in my ftp application to make sure they are completely uploaded.

Thanks you for the suggestion as to where to check for missing files.
I found two folders in the clientscript folder that were missing files: The vbulletin_css folder was missing an index.html file. The yahoo-dom-event subfolder in the yui folder was missing a yahoo-dom-event.js file. Evidently I missed these when I checked my upload for missing folders and file. Everything seems to work fine now. Thank you for the help |
Awesome!
