Real-time scrolling box
 
Hi all,

I am looking for a nudge in the right direction!

Goal:

Have a scrolling box on the main page of my website that is being up-dated in real-time with new posts, threads etc much like what is seen at:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ - In the "Right Now on TripAdvisor"

I want this box to be able to accept any event not just vbulletin but thought I would start with this for now.

Thoughts:

I was thinking of using perhaps external.php RSS feeds or XML files that are generated at regular intervals, say 30 seconds !


Any thoughts links or suggestions would be appreciated

you could pretty easily pull the information from a rss feed and post them in an rss forum, allowing them to be applied to the ticker without any modification to it at all.
