nominal fee

The owned vBulletin Forum license allows you to run the software on your site indefinitely. Along with this license, you will receive one year of free updates. Beyond the first year, you will have to pay a nominal fee, currently $30, to obtain updates for an additional year.
I need some clarification.
If I bought a license, I only need to pay $30 every year to keep the software up to date, am I correct?

Does that include major change? e.g. 3.6.8 -> 3.7, or even 3.7-> 4.1 ?

Yes, that yearly fee gives you access to any updates for that year.

vinboy 05-09-2008 04:11 AM

ok cool.
can I stop paying for like 1 year then upgrade it the next? i doubt it.

by the way, what is the relationship between www.vbulletin.org and www.vbulletin.com?

Boofo 05-09-2008 04:51 AM

Yes, you can stop paying the yearly fee and reinstate it at a later date but you won't have access to any upgrades during that time. And if it is more than 60 days after the renewal date, the fees are higher now. You will need to check those out.

The org is for hacks and modifications and the com is the official support site for the default vb.

The current price of a 1 year renewal is $30. We have however announced a pricing change that will change the renewal costs, please read more about this in vBulletin Licensing Changes
