Add Album / Photo count to statistics

Is there a way to display album and photo counts in statistics out of the box, or has Paul or anyone else made a hack for this yet?

I just yesterday made a feature request for album stats at vb.com. We have a nice stats feature for attachments, so I'm not sure why they left it off for albums.
