What is best?

I deleted alot of folders in my ftp by mistake and was wondering what was the best way to restore the "public_html" folder.

Any ideas?

Just upload it from a backup or from your computer. Do you keep a copy of the files on your computer?

I don't really understand what you mean as the backup... the only backup I have is the "database on my computer".

The only files I got is, vbulletin 3.7 zip.... and the database.

Nothing else

Ok, it sounds like you don't have a backup of the files. So, just do as you originally did and upzip the files in the 3.7 zip file and then upload them via ftp. Is that how you originally put them onto your site?

I mean I deleted the ACTUAL public_html folder...
Used caps *not being rude by the way*

The 3.7 files I have but I deleted the actual public_html folder, what can I do?
How/if could I re-create it?

OK, fine, but, why don't you just add back a folder called "public_html" and then upload all your files? Make sure you set the permissions to 755 on it.

I may sound dumb but lol I thought of that at first, just wanted someone to say it is allowed.

Thanks :)

Okay it all works now BUT just curious, what is the best permissions for the files inside public_html?

Lynne 05-04-2008 05:02 PM

Most are 644 or 755. Folders that need to be written to (customavatars, etc) need to be 777.
