Need to add a custom field
 

I need to add a required field to one, and just one, of my forums - location. Location would be tied to the thread only - not posts. The exact details as to how this info would show up is not important here, but basically it is something that needs to show every time someone looks at the forum's thread index display (ie sees Title then Location, then Rating, then Date Posted, etc) and it needs to show somehow at the top of the thread's posting display.

Has someone done something similar already?

PS: It would have to be a search-able field
