vbulletin vers 3.6.8

Both members and admin cannot reply with either the reply/quick reply or quotes. No matter how many characters or words are entered, the response is:

"The message you have entered is too short. Please lengthen your message to at least 5 characters."

What could possibly be wrong?

To troubleshoot this, please create a new Style with no Parent set. Now browse the forum using this new style, do you still have the same problems? If you are troubleshooting login or guest issues, you will need to set this style as board default in the vBulletin Options.

Thank you Marco for responding. I'm pretty good with the mods and making small coding changes, but how do I create a style?

Marco van Herwaarden 04-23-2008 12:53 PM

AdminCP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> Add New Style

Marco, that worked fine. No problems at all. This isn't good. Does that mean I have to use now this style and custom it?

Marco van Herwaarden 04-23-2008 01:26 PM

This only means that we are now sure that the problem is in your custom style. Compair the customized templates of your own style with the default templates to find exatly which template is causing this and try to repair it.

I never changed styles. I'm using default.

If you where using default already, then creating a new style would not have made a difference. ;)

You have some modified templates.

?

It did. I have default and that's it. I created a new style and called it "TestStyle". I went to Style and language settings and clicked the dropdown and selected "TestStyle" from my choice of the two, (other being default).

Saved it,

Went to my forum and did a test reply, it was instantaneous.

Went back into ACP, changed my style back to default.

Saved it,

Went back to my forum and did a test reply, I got the same message of not enough characters again.

By default Marco is referring the copy of the Master Style vBulletin creates when you create a new style, the fact that it works when you select this style (TestStyle) it works means that the initial style (what you call the default style) has errors in it.
