Is there a Developer who wants money to tweak this mod?

It looks like @ xenon gave up on this mod. He's not supporting it, doesn't reply to any posts and doesn't accept PM's. If somebody is willing to take this and tweak it for 3.6.8 and above, I'll pay $. A lot of members want this mod for their forums and don't have the knowledge to re-code to make it work, "myself included".

Thanks,

Look forward to the kind soul who's willing.

So, basically what you are saying is that it's got a copyright on it? I've seen plenty of mods here which are a "twist" on an already pre-existing mod.

Basically this dude doesn't answer anybody and a lot of people want to do this. So do we just sit around and wait for him to decide if he'll ever continue?

There's got to be options.

I can't answer this!

If its copyrighted, you should respect that copyright, it is the LAW. Just because you have seen other mods with a "twist", doesn't mean they are doing it illegally. If you obtain permission, it is not illegal.

Well, here's the skinny on that. If it's copyrighted, it must specifically state somewhere on the install notes, the mod home or the mod itself. Which it doesn't. Therefore this is an open ended project.

There's two forms of respect in regard to the mod and making adjustments.

1. The individual or individuals who kindly create the mod, support and provide adjustment notes. Of which this mod has never been supported and no such support has ever been offered from anybody else for that matter. The mod, (which is a very good one at that) sits and goes unattended because nobody knows if he/they are going to continue on the project. It's been over a year and there is no movement.

2. Someone or some people step up and take the reigns to continue the project noting this is not their mod, instead it is a continuance of an existing mode already in production but stalled.

Summary, he may have his name associated with it, but he doesn't own it.

You are very wrong in this.

Any original work is automatically copyrighted, no need for an explicit disclaimer to state such a copyright.

Without the original authors permission you are allowed to:
- Create (or have someone create) a new modification based on the same idea. It is not allowed to re-use the coding without permission.
- Modify (or have someone do this) the existing modification or your own needs. You are not allowed to redistribute such a modified version without prior permission from the original author.

Also if you want to pay someone to fullfill your needs, please post in Requests For Paid Services

Is this "automatic copyright" something in other countries?

In the US it must explicitly state it is copyrighted material or pending patent. Otherwise, it's a community distribution which has been offered as open source. I would love to be able to communicate and offer money to the person/s who've developed the mod. However, there is no way as they do not respond to posts, don't have a public email address and don't accept PM's.

Again wrong, also in the US it is not needed to register a copyright.

From WikiPedia:
Quote:

In all countries where the Berne Convention standards apply, copyright is automatic, and need not be obtained through official registration with any government office.
Quote:

In 1989, the U.S. enacted the Berne Convention Implementation Act, amending the 1976 Copyright Act to conform to most of the provisions of the Berne Convention. As a result, the use of copyright notices has become optional to claim copyright, because the Berne Convention makes copyright automatic.[6] However, the lack of notice of copyright using these marks may have consequences in terms of reduced damages in an infringement lawsuit — using notices of this form may reduce the likelihood of a defense of "innocent infringement" being successful
PS The simple fact the an author does not respond to your request does not remove his copyrights.
