Moving site to "Forums" directory.

When I installed my current vBulletin site, I wanted people to find it directly from my existing URL, so I put it into the root directory: (www.mysite.com/index.php). I realise this was a mistake since I now want to link to my vB forums from an HTM page of my own creation. This means moving the entire site into a Forums directory, so the htm page would be the default page called when entering www.mysite.com, and the link would be www.mysite.com/forums/index.php

I know a LOT of editing will be involved, and it's a daunting task. Even worse, I'm not really sure where to begin, and which files to edit/move first.

I'm fairly sure I'm not the first person needing to do this, and I recall seeing some info regarding "how to" that was posted here at vB.org some time ago. Sadly I cannot seem to find it now.

If someone would be kind enough to link me to the info, or (I know it's asking a lot) post the procedure that I need to follow, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks in anticipation.

Just change the URL in vBulletin Options to reflect the change, then mass move all the files into the new directory. That is all that has to be done, unless you have installed a modification that required entering of your URL.

Well if you don't have any non-vb or non-vb addon files, then just create the directory, and move all files into it. Then go into your ACP, and update your board URL in the settings, and go to your members area and update it there as well.

That's what I've done before, I don't know why you heard it was so daunting.

Thanks for your replies. I do have quite a few modifications installed, and many other files which are linked by URL, although (I hope) I'll be ok dealing with them one by one so long as the basic site can be moved without too many problems. On reflection, it probably only seems daunting because of my past untidiness. It's definitely time for some "spring cleaning" LOL. I suppose if I'd looked at the files in the original vBulletin installation (as downloaded from vB.com) that would tell me exactly what I need to move . . . doh! After that it will just be a case of addressing any broken links. (I'm getting optimistic now) :)

I'm currently transferring my board to a new web host. As soon as the migration is complete I'll get started. Thanks again.
