The domain name was registered in 1994
A US man has sold the domain name pizza.com for $2.6m (?1.3m) - after maintaining the site for just $20 a year since 1994.

You'll never be able to register a domain today and only maintain it for $20 a year and sell it for that much.

all dictionary words are gone, all 1-2-3 and most 4 letter LLLL.com domains are gone. Maybe try to get some easy to remember 5 letter.com name and hope theere is a need for them down the road.

What it's funny is how the big companies choose odd names: Google-Yahoo-Bebo-Veoh-Frappr-YouTube-Flckr-Vimeo-Bix-Digg-Furl... and so on!

That also has to do with finding a unique name. If your site has a unique name, then a SE search for your site will take the searcher there, instead of somewhere else.

Its all about brandability and marketing :D
