"In reply to" mod?

I've been looking for a mod which inserts the name of the user you're replying to when entering (or displaying) replies to posts.

For example, let's say "John" posts a message in a thread and "Robert" replies to it. At the top of Robert's reply, the text "In reply to John:" would automatically be inserted.

Several other vB forum ops told me that such a mod exists but they didn't know what it was called, and I couldn't find anything when I tried to search for it here.

Any ideas?

Sorry- just a bump. I would like to find out as well.

Boofo 04-07-2008 03:57 AM

In the actual post or the post title?

We called 'Quote' :p

For instance: I can 'In reply to Nexialys' and he will ignore me completely so I don't see the case ;)

Of course what I meant was:

Your attempt to reach a structured/articulated discussion/debate in your Forum via a Mod/Hack is commendable and subjective..
SEO Mods boost your sites, but Topic/Content does more...
What I suggest to Mr Boofo since he's the Coder here is a Mod where you receive in your email the next 3 posts after your question [or the whataever number you chose via options] and even that doesn't guarantee a prompt response/solution to your question/problem [I've been wating response for months on some threads or even I forget where I posted or what did I ask]
But if you're still looking for a user2user dialogue, there's a more general solution and is called 'vBulletin' :p

Either way would be acceptable.

The default quote feature does this. See ^

The default quote feature also quotes the text in the message being replied to. I just want "In reply to [username]" without the text, especially when someone uses the "Quick Reply" feature.

I know what you mean, Dan.

UBB forums have it built in at the header (to the right of the post time/date) of each post. It says "Re: Doctor Dan" or whatever on top.

As far as I know, there's no mod for it. I've tried adding it myself a while back, but it was virtually impossible (unless I overlooked something simple) with vB's tracking system.
