database error

I'm a newbie, and apparently while trying to learn how to 'addon' domains and mysql databases in my cpanel, I screwed my up VBulletin software. My homepage won't even load. it just says database error.

Through searching on here and other support forums, I tried all the suggestions from all the threads: password reset, removal of all trace files from addons, wordpress, etc... I added a couple domains and was trying to install wordpress on one of them, just to learn how. I think that's what did it.

I've contacted my host, and they said it looks like I overtaxed the mysql, which usually calls for a full reinstall they said. Mind you, they installed VB for me the first time as a courtesy, so I have no clue about that. More importantly, they mentioned I should be able to back up my parent and child forums plus my content and skin mods.

I searched and I'm confused on the best way to do this. It would seem obvious to me to do a download in the ACP if I could get into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

P.S. I have no computer knowledge...for future references, would it be better to have separate hosting accounts for domains to learn with? Thanks!

It helps if you post the full msg from the database error or at least provide a link to your site.

My appologies, I didn't think it was relevant, as there are no error specifics. www.hiddenhealing.com

Fix your db access/permissions.

Access denied for user 'hiddenhe_admin'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

flnz400, in the future when you get a database error page like the one you are getting, you can get the exact error by Viewing the Source Code. The whole error will be near the bottom of the source code page.

I don't follow. You're saying I can fix those and not have to reinstall everything? Is there any way you could point me to a tutorial or something that would explain it. Thanks You!

Thank You! I see the error now, even though I don't understand it yet! lol

I assume your host provides a control panel for your hosting account, there should be a mysql tool there for adding/removing databases along with adding/removing users the permissions of a database, unfortunately you provide us with no details of your host provided panel, so i cant really give you a tutorial on what to do.

You should also check your forums/includes/config.php file and make sure the database info is correct.

I don't know what you mean by host provided panel. I use the cpanel on an apache server from www.aptohosting.com , if that's what you meant.

I took a look at the file you suggested, but only understand a limited number of the values. The ones I did recall seemed to be correct.

Since I don't understand, is there any way to back up the files to keep the mods I did to the skin and all my child forums? I log onto my ftp, but not my ACP. Thanks!
