Cooking Site

Well I just opened CookingJunkies today.

I was just wanting to see what everyone thinks.

Its geared kinda towards women, but I know they have men out there who love to cook. So lemme know what you think of the look and all. Keep in mind its only been open for a day LOL

www.cookingjunkies.com

So stop in and check it out and lemme know what think. Its been awhile since I opened a vbulletin site. So all feedback is welcomed :)

Nice! but I'm vegetarian, can u add something there?

You can Add Custom Icons for each section too [there's a Mod around here called MuiltiFicons https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthrea...t=multificons]

My first thought was that the tulip as your background image while fitting with the color scheme really does not go with the cooking theme. Perhaps something that is more fitting?

The pink color is very girly, but if you are trying to attract a woman userbase that would work but might scare off any males. Perhaps something more neutral in color that is less gender identifying?

You have 3 main forums, Rules (good), The kitchen, and The Dieters Plan. I would suggest building out some other forums for other cooking discussion as well. Perhaps some place for reviewing of kitchen gadgets tools, some sort of off topic area as well as I think members like to discuss other things as well and an off topic area will give them a area where they can feel like they are part of a community.

In thinking about it you have to think about all the other cooking related sites out there and how you can provide something that the others do not have.

You can add too: Weight Calculators, Calorie tables, etc

Thank You all for the input. Well this site is kinda by women for women. And me being a man, I dont know if I did the females justice lol. But I tried. They seem to be happy with it. As for as the content. We have many more forums. Thats just the only ones guests can see. And yeah im working on adding some food type things like that. Thank you all for the imput and great ideas. I really do appreciate it.

Okay I added alot of changes to it and took the advice on the skin...What do you all think? I think it looks much better now..I had a little SEO help too :)

: shrug :

It doesn't really look like it would be a food site. The colors are cold, and non-appetizing.

I find it really really weird to use vBulletin as a CMS.. And not having photos on the recipes doesn't keep my attention long enough to stick around.

What does your site offer that www.epicurious.com doesn't, and why should people use yours over the competition?

I may sound like I'm being picky, but trust me, this is going to be the opinion of the majority of your visitors.

Well thats a nice site. but thats this big huge thing. Our site is small and just starting. Plus we have alot of ideas for the future. And Staff has real cooks on it. Im not t ying to say its better or what not. Just its a nice small community cooking site. It doesn't really matter if its some huge 100k member site. Just a place to come relax and meet nice people. And Custom skin is being worked on as speak...So eventually it will have some nice cooking skin..But I think the answer to your question Why? Because it non BS and nice place to hang out. Plus once finish all the other stuff :) It will be really nice.

It has alot of other content...Just you cant see it till register...So ..who knows...

But that site is nice.. A lot of flashy eye candy though...

Also not into competition....Site is not for money :)
