rss bot threads show in "new posts"..

I have a little problem. I set up several feeds to be displayed for a given forum. Hid those forums then used VbAdvanced to display previews of the posts like a feed page.

You can see what i mean by going HERE. My problem is that when people click on the "new posts" link in the navbar instead of seeing just the actual new posts that people are making the list is flooded by the rss bot created threads. How can I exclude a set of forums or exclude a user from showing up on the "new posts" page?

Any help would be great!

P.S. I've tried disabling indexing topics in the rss forums to the search engine.

use serch.php?do=getnewposts&excludeid=XXXX

then enter forum IDs.

that might not tbe the exact code but its close, it was just posted here the other day as well

mmm.. didn't work. Anyone know the right code?

search.php?do=getnew&exclude=x,y

x and y being two forumids. You can add more, just separate the forum ids by a comma.

Perfect, thanks!

I've got the exact same situation and need. I've read of some other complicated way to do this but this method looks much easier.

The only problem is I'm an n00b and the whole community seems to assume we know what the heck is being talked about.

Ok, I know what my forum ID's and I've got this part: "search.php?do=getnew&exclude=x,y" but would someone mind clarifying where this statement is used? Is a mySQL query? Is it in a template somewhere?

I have enabled my admin account to run queries (if that's what this is) and tried it one time but got an error that the prefix was wrong. I didn't assign a prefix when I installed so I'm not sure where I'm at?

I've come a long way in the last two weeks but obviously, the learning is on going.

Thanks!

Hey, ubberdoober

It's a template edit. Go to styles & templates select the style you want to edit then open up the "header" template. search "getnew" and add code to that. if you have more than one instance apply to both.
