need help converting from phpbb to vbulletin
Hey
Our forum is btoforums.com I want to keep all the posts. i know we may not be able to keep the user passwords. its fine as long as the posts are saved and the structure can be managed. In the past i have not had much luck with phpbb especially backing it up. I can probably use the impex my self but i rather pay for expert help here as our forum is important if the rate is reasonable. We want the forum to remain on the same host. same domain just want it in vbulleting 3.7. Can anyone help? where do we start/? what should be our first steps that i need to do to prep for this project? what are the rates for such work? our host does support php5. they also support ssh and whatever else is latest and greatest but i just dont want to mess with it and risk loosing our data. please help This is the 2nd attempt posting this. the first time i got private messages but no replies. Please do not message me with rates. Answer my questions first then message me with rates. |
It depends, different programmers have different rates. It's not too hard to convert, although when I first did it, I had a few problems (user error). Be very careful who you hire, though. You won't be able to keep the same passwords, but you can just send a mass email out telling your users to change their password.
I'm free at the moment, if you wish to hire me to complete the work needed. Also, as you are offering money, then this should be moved to the "Request for paid services" forum. |
I switched a board over from phpbb to vB last year and didn't hear any issues about passwords from my users. The biggest issue I've seen thus far is that somewhere in the conversion, two users disappeared. The accounts just vanished as far as I can tell.

Impex cannot convert passwords. They are saved in a different way.

If you want to discuss, then this is the correct forum.
You are however offering payment, this is only allowed in Requests For Paid Services (where your other thread is also located). In that forum others can not reply to your thread but will have to communicate by PM. Closing this thread. |
