Heated Discussions

With the age of user content, we should give the users the power to rate and bump the content as well. This system is similar to that of /. or digg.

What it Does
Every post on your board now has an option to bury or raise its score, so only scores above a certain threshold are shown. Scores "way" above a certain amount are known as HOT and are highlighted. Threads with X amount of heat posts are brought up as heated discussions, and are shown on the forum home page instead of the forum home.

Configuration
These amounts, opted in forums, and permissions are fully configurable. The product XML contains FAQ entries for users who are new. Users can also adjust the viewing threshold levels.

Compatibility
PHP 5.2+ is supported, and PHP 4 is unofficially supported. Let me know if you run into any problems. vBulletin 3.5+ should work as well.

Stability
This mod was originally done for a client of mine who was thoughtful enough to allow me to release it here. It runs on a board with over 3000 concurrent users and has been running smooth for over a week. However, install at your own risk. A backup, as always, is recommended.

Installation
Upload PHP file and import product XML file. Shouldn't take more than 2 minutes. Be sure to go directly into the options and usergroup configuration to set things up accordingly before enabling it.

No public demo at the moment, but hopefully someone can volunteer their site soon.

It's a brilliant idea. Too bad i can't find a purpose for it on my forums.
