Attach Tags
 

Hello,

I see the attach tags [attach]attachmentid[/attach]

I know it displays attachments in a post, instead of at the bottom...but how are you supposed to know the attachment id?

You can hover over an attachment link and get the id from the statusbar (that's how I've always done it anyway).

I still don't get how this works. Are you supposed to upload it first, make your post, then edit it?

Yes, the tag assumes that you have attachments uploaded. You can find this by hovering like Lynne suggests or using the ?id= on attachment.php (if that still works in vB 3.7 I am not sure).

Why not just use the paper clip -- that puts it in for you automatically.

I thought you were talking about using the attach tags on an attachment you had uploaded in another post.
