Increasing members/traffic
 

Well i run a basketball forum and i want to know ways to help increase traffic what do you guys do and what can i do?

buy people free beers for passers by to join your site ^^

on a serious note:
- word of mouth ..recommend your forums to friends
- get affiliated with other well known sports forums and news sites
- banner exchange
- top sites (sports)
- paid advertising
- if you post on other forums, include ur forum in their signature
- free promotions...post ur site details on other forums in a nice way (if they allow it)

I run a general discussion one , any ideas on getting higher up in a google search?

basically, the more you get linked on the net, the higher ur PR becomes.

- Affiliations
- Try to get a spot on other forums about your site
- your signature on other forums
- Paid advertising ...etc
- paid positioning on google
