Force forum subscription
 

Is there a way to force forum subscription for users or groups? I am trying to set up a new forum and need to make sure that members get notifications on new content. They can certainly unsubscribe from the forum. But initially, I want them to be notified.

My ideal would be for members of Group 1 to be subscribed to Forum 1, Group 2 to Forum 2. This is not a site wide notification, just on a per forum basis for individual groups.

I dont recall anything in vb by default for this, you can check for a hack, but i dont recall one of those either, there are automated queries in the vb maintence, but not for this.

You could do these changes manually in phpmyadmin with a query.

Create one group called "Pre-Registered Users (after this called UG1)" and another group "Registered Users (after this called UG2)" (you may use the normal registered users group).

All right, now setup UG1 to access only one forum with one thread to informations about your subscription and link to www.example.com/payments.php

Now when your users with UG1 pay, the payments move the user to UG2 and go :)
