Email a group when a post is made?
 

I know how to make a forum so groupA can post, groupB cannot post, can reply and can read.
But I want to add another feature - when groupA makes a new thread, an email is sent to all of the members of groupB notifying them of the thread.

I would like to include the link to the thread, at a minimum. It would be nice to have the option to include the thread, and any attachments to the thread.

Any easy way to do this?

Forum Manager -> (Edit the forum you want the emails to be sent out of) -> Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Post AND Email Addresses to Notify When there is a New Thread

Show All Moderators -> (Edit users that are receiving email) -> Email Preferences

Those are the default ways of doing this.

But that doesn't email a vBulletin group with its dynamic membership as users join the forum or are moved into or out of a particular group. It emails individual email addressed.

Enter the email address(es) of anyone who should be notified when a new thread is made in this forum. Separate multiple addresses with a space. It is suggested that you do not enter moderators' email addresses here - you can select whether or not a moderator receives email notifications when adding that moderator. If you add a user's email address to both the "Post" and "Thread" email notifications, that person will receive two emails when a new thread is started.

bumping this in case anyone knows a way to do this to a group of users, such as all members of group 1,2

bumping this due to lack of response. Anyone have any suggestions on how to allow an administrator to send an email to a group when a post is made in the post UI, or have the server trigger it automatically any time a new thread is started?
