I hope I can explain this well enough. Here is what I want to do:

I have 3 usergroups
Usergroup1
Usergroup2
Usergroup3

I would like to send an invitation to about 500 people and have them come on to the forum under Usergroup2.

Maybe it comes from the link in the invitation?
Maybe I have a list of Usergroup2 users and the new user matches one?

I have no idea. I am hoping that someone here does. Pretty please?

Based on what criteria is the 500 people selected? If they have a common denominator, such as all of them have a specific profile field selected (for example) then you can select them all in your Usergroup manager and move them into a new usergroup. Otherwise, if you don't want to 'force' them. I would suggest possibly considering something a bit more unique, such as only showing an invite link to your newly created ground (which is joinable) on the homepage (or wherever) and have them click in case they want to join. This can be done with a bit of clever coding. If you give me more specific details, i may be able to suggest something.

What do you need to know?

Read my initial post again, "Based on what criteria is the 500 people selected?" I need to know how you plan on selecting the people in question, why are you selecting these 500 and not the rest? what makes them special?
