The Search function could improve

Hello there!

I've noticed the Search function on vb.org could be improved dramatically.

I'll give you an example.

If you go to the vB 3.6 modification forum (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=194), try to search for "username request." There is a mod by this EXACT name.

Now if you hit search and look at the result, well that mod is not even in the top 20. But instead, you have mods that have absolutely nothing to do with what I searched for on top of the search result list.

Apart from that, me likey :D

Did you try to search titles only?

titles only works fine. But then I would have to go to the advanced search function.

I'm just pointing out that the algorithm the search is running from could greatly improve.

No need to go Advanced, see the 2 dropdown boxes behind the search field in the header.

If you search posts, yes then you might get a lot of results. Also searching for a very common word like "request" will give you probably too many results.

it's weird to explain this:

If i have to use a few words like 'whats the best vb gallery mod" (for example)

Well then i have to use google, since the search function doesnt do it for me.

google is not using the mysql fulltext feature to apply its search results...

there is some discussions here about implementing Sphynx in your vBulletin... would make it more powerful, but anyway, never ending story
