Need help getting the vB login to work on a php page

I have 2 sites setup, one is the forums, which is 3.6.8 and the other is a ladder site that is php based.

I would like to have the user login on the forum site to carry over to the other site so that the user doesn't need to login in again.

If anyone has the answer to this, I would greatly appreciate it as I would like both sites to work as one.
