Changing/editing Index.php!!

On my forum, since it is all under one category, I want to edit the entire center block of the index page where it lists the forums and replace it will all kinds information on my site.

My forum is all under the root directory and is not under any /forums directory.

What's the best/safest/easiest way to edit my index page of my vBulletin, and how do I do it???

Just edit the forumhome template if you want to add information above the forum blocks.
