1and1 Upgrading to Debian Etch
1and1 Upgrading to Debian Etch
On the 3rd of March 2008 my host 1and1.com is upgrading their Linux to Debian Etch. This has me very worried. How screwed am I with vbulletin, vbadvanced, Photopost Pro, imagemagik all installed. Does this upgrade to Debian Etch effect anything in these installed apps? In their email to me they state: "self-compiled / third-party binary files, which may no longer function properly following the upgrade." I need to know if this is going to cause me problems ASAP. I am sure other members are on 1and1... |
I can't see it making any real difference at all.
They mean rpms that you may have added really. Not php scripts. |
vb runs great on debian etch (i have it running myself) so probally nothing changes for you but to make sure copy a db and site backup to your own comp
|
I'd be more worried about atually hosting on 1and1 rather then what their upgrading too...
|
^ Agreed. 1and1 is horrible now.
Off the top of my head, APC-Cache and (if applicable) zend will probably stop working. |
I'd go with a different host. Why on earth did you choose 1and1 in the first place?
