Help!!! Allowing moderators to ignore moderators

I have a small dilemma on my hands, and I'm not sure what I can do about it, if anything. I have two moderators who do not get along, yet I would like to keep both on-board if possible. What I'm looking for is a way for one moderator to set another moderator onto his/her ignore list; however, I keep running into the "You cannot ignore ____ because he is a moderator/admin" message, even when I try to set the other moderator to ignore status by jumping into the other's account.

I've looked in the admincp for these capabilities, but it looks to be an all-or-nothing sort of thing where either EVERYONE can ignore a moderator nor NO ONE can. The thing that makes me curious is that I myself can ignore him (as admin), so I'm sure there is a way. Do I have to somehow hard code this into the system, or is there a permission I can set moderators in to be able to ignore each other?

One of my moderators has a habit of posting highly controversial messages. I keep him on-board because he has been a lot of help with the forums, but in order to keep the peace, I really need these capabilities. Worst case scenario, I'll drop the moderator, but I'd rather not as he's not breaking any of our official rules and I don't want to vote him off in a 'survival' type vote off.

I'll be very grateful for any advice anyone has. Thanks in advance for your time.

I'm still in need of help with this if anybody has any advice. :)

I think you would have to modify the code somehow. You need to find the part in the code that deals with ignored users and then modify that to also look at the userid for these two users and not spit out posts for each other. That doesn't sound like fun to me. Can't you 'talk' to these two and tell them to just grow up and ignore each other?

Thanks Lynne.

I've tried. One is just an over-the-top Animal Rights activist, and the other just gets sick of it sometime. I'll probably just monkey with the code I guess. If it's possible for admin to ignore moderators (which it is), it shouldn't take too much adjustment to allow moderators to ignore moderators.

I was just hoping there'd be a way without getting too deep into code.

Thank you though. :)
