Upgrading to 3.7

Hey so i thought i would give upgrading to 3.7 a try, and i uploaded all the files, renamed config.php.new to config.php, and then opened it up in a text editor. I think i filled out the correct variables, then when i went to www.myforumsurl.com/install/upgrade.php i got this warning:

PHP Code:

Database error in vBulletin :

If anyone could help me with this thatd be great! Im kind of worried because right now im in the between world, i dont know how to get back to 3.6.8 and i cannot get to 3.7

So what should i do? I wouldnt mind downgrading to 3.6.8 for the time being until i figure it out, but right now any forum is better then none, my users are probably worried! :erm:

Thanks

what

I don't even see a "netdatastore" in the statement.

I would check your config file and make sure you have everything related to your database correct - like the table prefix.

yes ok thank you, the table prefix was one of the things that i was a bit unsure about. how can i find this out?

ahh ok i seemed to have figured that part out. Now, however, it asks me to enter in my vBulletin member number, so i did, and it said "it was successful". Now, according to the directions, i am supposed to have a bunch of instructions on the screen related to upgrading the system.

But instead, i have this error:
Quote:

Your vBulletin (3.6.8) does not appear to be running the version that was downloaded (3.7.0 Beta 2).

This generally means your upgrade was not successful. Please ensure that you have uploaded the latest files and click here to try again.

If you are sure you wish to continue with this part of the upgrade, click here.

Did you download all the files from the member area at vb.com and then upload ALL of them to your website?

laserterd 02-15-2008 09:17 PM

That post prompted me to go and double check, and sure enough! I read the readme wrong, the part where it said "upload everything with the exception of install/install.php, i didnt install anything from the install folder!

So thats uploading now, and after that ill let you know if i have any more problems.

ok so i came up with a new problem

The first time it asked me to enter my customer number it worked, but i hadnt uploaded the install folder all the way. The second time it asked me to enter my customer number, after i uploaded the install folder, it didnt work! I type my customer number, then press "Enter upgrade system". The page reloads, but its just back at the same screen... it doesnt even say "error in logging in" or anything!

So whats the deal this time?

Thanks!

Ensure that you are using the files belonging to that customernumber.
