Welcome Panel
 
We used Welcome Panel for years. With the upgrade to 3.7, we decided not to reinstall the modification as it was responsible for over half the query hits to the database.

Does anyone know of a modification that looks similar to Welcome Panel and isn't so hostile on the database?
