Help!
Hi guys,
I am currently trying to change my forum to a new url. The problem I have is I accidently deleted the mysql of the old forum. Now I have backups and all the files seem to be on the server but im not sure if I should try to restore the backups, delete them all and start again with 3.7 I haven't a clue how to do this, can anyone come on msn and help me? I will be happy to pay a bit for your time and help? Please get back to me asap Thanks |
import the SQL back-up through mysql shell, or phpmyadmin depending on your php.ini settings this could take a while depending on your SQL back-up size... then make sure all your VB script is there and in place nothing missing... then after that configure your files accordingly.. then run the upgrade script so it wont over write the SQL once done all should be fine :)

Rick are you on msn mate?
Im not sure if its worth just starting again or not? --------------- Added [DATE]1202646921[/DATE] at [TIME]1202646921[/TIME] --------------- Rick, I might just start over again with the new 3.7 and grin and bear all the mods again :( Might be worth it in the long run. Do I simply just delete everything from my server? |
well before starting again there is a few things you need to consider..
How many members do you have ? Do you really want to remake all the topics and threads ? Are you willing to restart over ?, and yes ill PM you my msn |
PS If you are requesting paid assistence, then please post in Requests For Paid Services Do not offer payment in any other forum.
The only reliable method of backing up and restoring a database is with shell access via telnet or ssh. This is because backing up with a PHP script like that in the Admin CP or phpMyAdmin can result in PHP timeouts errors and an incomplete backup file. Please see the instructions here: Backup: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...nce_ssh_backup Restore: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/m...ce_ssh_restore P.S. If you don't have shell access, some people have also reported success with these scripts: MySQLDumper: http://www.mysqldumper.de/en/index.php MySQLHotxcopy: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...t=mysqlhotcopy Bigdump: http://www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php |
