Subscription Coupon?

I would like to extend out coupon's to users who want to subscribe on my forum and save a few dollars. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do that? Nor do I find any hacks. Does someone have any ideas for this?

So in theory an advertiser could sponsor the next 50 people who signup get a free year membership etc.
Or I could run $5 off a subscription by entering this code - etc.

I am running 3.6.8 vbulletin.
