dDoS

I'm getting dDoS'd i think on http://leetzone.co.uk

I've started redirecting the domain atm so i dont get my resources leeched, but on my forum it constantly showed 1 person online (me) and 360 guests online, and then 503 service unavailable messages..

Any idea how to solve this? since my host only gave me advice on changing my domain when i asked for help about this. -.-

Protecting against DDOS attacks depends greatly on what your server configuration is like. Are you hosting on a shared or managed server? Then tell the company you are renting from that you think you are being DDOSed. You are paying them to do the hosting let them.

If you have a VDS or a Dedicated Server that you admin then you are going to have to work the problem out yourself. To start you might want to read up on mod_security and suhosin which will be a start to securing your server.

Nothing beats a hardware firewall though, if you can get your datacenter to put one in for free then that would be the best solution.

I would check your web logs to clarify whats going on with your forum when this happens. If your website is still online its not a DDoS or its a very weak attack. If your forum shows those types of statistics I'm thinking maybe malicious scripts. you would really have to pull your raw logs and look at them in a little more detail.
