Allowing Users to Bypass Required Profile Fields

I've been in a search for the code that handles the Required fields check for a user in hopes that I can write some additional code to allow a specific set of users or even an entire group to bypass the necessary steps to fill out specific required fields. I've posted three threads on these forums without any luck in getting pointed in the right direction:

Someone has to have some ideas of where I should start or be able to assist me in finding a solution? Anyone?
