reCAPTCHA's mistake

It appears that reCAPTCHA's text editor has put one too many words in its vocabulary.

They all come from books, so blame the author of that particular book lol.

It's a valid word. I don't see why it's funny, nor a problem? It may be a little distasteful to some, but given the fact most high school students are taught about Nazism in UK high schools, it's not as if it's a taboo subject over here :)

Its not that its taboo, its that it could be offense to a whole religion of people. Is it a issue, no? Because it doesn't offend a minority, if that was a offensive word toward African Americans then there'd be out cries to get rid of ReCaptch

Marco van Herwaarden 01-30-2008 07:55 AM

That word does not look like it could be an offense to anyone.

nexialys 01-30-2008 10:35 AM

actually, the word Hitlerism itself does not exists... it is refered as a transformation of nazism... due for the only reason that the only hitler that marked the history was a bad guy... if Abraham Hitler would have invented the automobile, the bad one would have been swifted to the second rank.

the word itself is funny to me, because it is more like an error of conception than an offending word. it would be the same to have a "van Herwaardenism" word there... there is not only one Hitler family in the world, there is more than 5 000 of them... anybody can be directly touched by this word...

Marco van Herwaarden 01-31-2008 06:48 AM

Now i can imagine many people to be offended by that one. Please don't use it again or i will have to infract you. :D

Is that even a real word ?
