Where are avatars located on the server?

So I'm trying to write something custom for placing new avatars on the server durring registration. Where are the physical files located on the server? I can't seem to find them...

If they are stored in a batch file, can someone help me with adding to that file in a simple manner?

all I have in there is index.html...no images

If they aren't in there, then you probably still have them stored in the database. You can change that under the avatars area in your Admin CP.

under avatar manager it says "Currently being served from database" but I don't see how to change it?

Under Avatars > User Picture Storage Type

These are the only options I have under User Picture Storage Type, and at the top it says "Currently being served from database", without an option to change it.

Input the paths (or leave the defaults if they are correct) and then hit Go on the bottom.
