Is this Normal !!? [ server load issue ]

Hi ,

I'm having a troubles in my server these months .. It's hosted in a dedicated server with this specification :

Quote:

INTEL-PENTIUM-2.8

RAM: 2048MB

Primary Storage: 80GB Hard Drive

Secondary Storage: 40GB Hard Drive

Drive Controller: IDE/SCSI

Control Panel: Cpanel with Fantastico

Plesk Language Pack: None

Operating System: Fedora Core 4

Private Switch: None

Uplink Port Speed: 100Mbps uplink

Pro-Active Monitoring: None

Offsite Backup Space: None

Hostname: server.cksu.com

Security Plan: None

Data Center: DataBank DC

And only one big forum is hosted on it with an average 350 user / at the moment ... the memory and CPU is totally used in the peak time and the site get down !

Is that normal according to the specification above ?

what is the suggested fix plan for such situation ?

Thanks ,

What are your server loads like? You really aren't telling us much at all. You might want to post in the Server forum at vb.com with all the required information and George will help you out with tweaking your server.

With what I am reading above, I would get a new host....Sorry, wish I could help.

Upgrade your drives, and make sure they are atleast 10k rpm and see if that helps. After that upgrade your ram, 2GB isn't really that much for a board with 350 online at a time especially if you're running your database from the same server.

Like Lynne already suggested, post a server optimisation request on vBulletin.com.

The specs of the server are not extreme, but should be enough to have a board with 350 concurrent users running without a problem.
