Survey/Question when signing up

Any hack that forces the user to do a question/survey (e.g. to find out how did the person gotten to know of the website in the 1st place) when registering?

And also how do i go about sending the user a welcome pm when they registered. I tried using the new registraion option but nothing happened. I've set the PM message on too.

You can just create profile feilds via the ACP, set them to appear on Registration and make so they HAVE to be filled in order to register.

You can edit the welcome PM/e-mail from there.
