Really what ever happened to controlling your kids?

If you smack your kids you go to jail now. Clearly that child has lacked a few to many needed!

I swear! If my kids EVER talked to like that!!! :eek:

After seeing various videos of kids smashing things and swearing constantly at everything, I'd say controlling them kind of went out of the window a few years ago.

If I ever talked to my mommy like that I would get the sh1t slapped out of me.:eek:

Why can't we spank children anymore? I mean its not like your abusing them. One spank won't do anything. Now a days if you spank your child you go to jail......who passed that stupid law? There is a big different from teaching them "NO" and "Abuse"

Abuse is reoccurring over and over again for no reason.

But then, when they are so bad that the go to state boot camp..
the guards kill can them... but spanking is child abuse? hummmm... yeah riight!

I live in FL and this one flipped the lid on the whole state.. They TRIED to blame it on his condition but a second autopsy by the parents proved that all wrong. There is a video of it some where.. I'll see if I can find it.

Government has no business raising our kids, I agree, Spanking and child abuse are two completely different things.

Ask yourself why you feel the need to spank your child; I have five kids, so can speak to the subject pretty well. If you have an opinion that suggests spanking your child is acceptable, please post up just how many kids you have so we know if you are talking from experience or just stupidity.

Spanking is often more about the parent's anger than it is about correcting bad behavior. Think about you - kid acts up, you get pissed and smack the kid. That wasn't for his benefit - it was for yours. Would you still do that if you took a few minutes to chill? When your having a bad day at work and asking like a jerk how about I pull your pants down and smack your ass until you cry?

Just what part of physical abuse of your child do you find to be "for their own good"? Truth is you wouldn't dare pull a stunt like that on a grown adult - let alone try to confront someone like me with an open hand. Would you spank your child in public or do you prefer to wait until nobody could see you because you know that either you'd get your ass kicked or arrested for beating on a small child?

If it makes you feel better to take your anger out on a small child, then you probably don't deserve to have children in the first place.

Generally the rule is that if you spank immediately you tell the child why. Spanking should also occur soon after an inappropriate action has taken place. If not for both accounts, they associate spanking with anger and violence and not a form of learning.

I won't tell a parent one way another unless they are abusing their child in the standards of the law. I have to follow it strictly since part of what I do is training parents on handling difficult behaviors. While I specialize in autism you name the behavior I've more likely dealt with it...And felt it many a time. I also apply law to ensure that whoever's on the team understands what is involved and what the consequences will be if they do not adhere to it.

Still, while I agree with MPDev I will question parents who have no control over their own. It concerns me to see parents given in to child tantrums or give them so much freedom that boundaries are nonexistent. There are many who truly care and want to learn better ways to discipline their children but for those who neglect shouldn't have children in the first place.
