Sample for new users

Hi
I just joined and thought I could at least review the MODS (such as screenshots, demos) to see what they are like first before buying the forum. There is nothing devious I am trying to do - I think you might consider changing your forum rules - I have some specific needs for advertising and if I can't evaluate the MODS it affects my decision.

Also there is no pricing for MODS so are some free, some paid, costs?

This site and MODs look great but I think you might open up the forum to non-licenced holders so they can see the quality of work (which from what I can see seems impressive).

Any feedback is welcome.

All work released on vBulletin.org is free of charge.

I am sorry, but we can not change our procedures regarding to unlicensed members. You should be able to see enough to get an idea of what is available, viewing code will not be allowed for unlicensed members.

Ok thanks. I don't see the harm in showing a visitor a screen shot but it is what it is.

I am surprised all MODS are free, that is very beneficial, some of them seem very involved - looks like the community is passionate abou this product.

Regards and thanks.

ppooll- You dont need to worry about much in the way of mods. Simply purchasing vb gives you alot of features and I can bet you my bottom dollar you will get most mods you think of wanting nine times out of ten. :)

Ok thanks
So which version am I buying? 3.07 Beta 2?

I don't know php that well so I don't want to make too many changes.

And while Im asking, when updates are released is it as simple as running the update ? If I have a mod will I have to manually update that?

Thanks

You do not "buy" a version. You buy a license, which gives you the right to run any version of the software. You may choose to download any version via the members' area, but it is suggested that you run the latest stable version (3.6.8 PL2), unless you can debug yourself.

I see, thanks.

Yes, I don't want to spend too much time trying to fix bugs.

Also, I see there are alot of MODs for 3.6 so that would be the best option right now.

Regards

Also, most 3.5 modifications will work for 3.6, and many 3.6 modifications will also work with 3.7.

Thanks - I will check if the mods are backwards compatible; that is, will 3.7 mods run on 3.6- I guess it depends on the mod in part.

Depends on the mod, but generally it goes:

3.7 can run all 3.7 modifications, most 3.6 mods and many 3.5 mods

3.6 can run all 3.6 mods and many 3.5 mods (possibly more 3.5 mods than vBulletin 3.7 can) And a few 3.7 mods I suppose, depending on what exactly the coding does.

3.5 can run all 3.5 mods and quite a few 3.6 mods depending on that in question.
