Integrating login with existing site...
 

I have a members only site and I'm trying to move to vB. I looked for a mod that does this, but quite frankly... it got intimidating fast! There's SO many mods! (It's cool... but intimidating!)

In our existing system, the user logs into the website. When they register for the forum, it fills out their username and password (and doesn't allow them to change them) since login is through the main site. [So they always have to login through the main site (it has autologin as well, so it's not a huge issue)]

They can then change their display name (I know I need a mod for this too, but one thing at a time!) and their options, etc.

Done this way, when their subscription to the main site runs out, they can no longer access the forum.

Has anybody seen anything like this for vB? (Or am I just so ignorant that I can't see how it's done in the manual?) Or anybody got a better suggestion? I'm always open to that as well...

im looking also i would like a tutorial on how to go about using sessions and cookies for integrating vb with a pre existing php based site.
