ALL to show age and birthday !

note:- I have searched this forum but have not found a suitable answer (maybe not asked before!)

Is there a hack or mod I can run to make it a default setting that ALL members show age and date of birth

I know that in the user cp members can choose this option

I wish this option to be Admin managed as " ALL show d.o.b and age"

Can this be done ?

p.s. Keep up the great work and thanx in anticipation of any replies

If they didnt fill them in when they registered, its not going to show anyways, so you have to go back and make that a required field when registering.

Code:

UPDATE user SET showbirthday=2

Forgive my ignorance but do I enter this code in the Execute SQL Query ?

My registration proces does insist on date of birth being entered

Yes you can run it there or from phpmyadmin

lol - many thanx

1.35 seconds and job done

Suddenly the calendar is very full - lol

Your Welcome.

Just remember there is nothing stopping a user from changing that option back, if you want it to be removed from their control, you will need to remove that code from the template.

Am sure I will be able to find 1.35 seconds to run it again - lol :p

Forcing birthdates to be visible might lead to privacy complaints.

Grampz 01-15-2008 05:19 PM

There is a reason why they don't want to show the age and birthday. It is a privacy concern and forcing them to show it is probably not a good thing to do. On my site, most members show the information of their own free will and the ones that don't are a little cautious about privacy. As a site Admin, be careful when it comes to personal information. You don't want it to bite you in the database later on. ;)

Concerns noted
